You are here: Lifestyle Nightlife Boom Shaka back with a bang
Boom Shaka which blast into the music scene way back and disappeared as quickly as they came are now back again all of a sudden. Why… bafunani ngoku abababantu? They ambushed Mzansi with their hit song, Its About Time, and went on to sell amawaka ngamawaka amacwecwe. The group comprised of two girls, Thembi and Lebo and two guys, Junior and Theo.
After enjoying their success, Boom Shaka split. Members pursued solo careers. Lebo and Thembi’s careers blossomed even more after they went solo. Stardom came with a lot of complications.
Impukane eziluhlaza zazisithi uLebo was on drugs. Lebo has unfortunately since passed on. She died in a freak motor accident in 2006. Thembi has been on the scene, making music, presenting and acting on the long running TV Drama Zone 14.
Junior and Theo banyamalala kwaphela kwiqonga lomculo after Boom Shaka. Now they are coming back again to rejuvenate their dwindled careers. Eish!
Oskido uvumile that plans are in place to bring the group back. Oskido owns Kalawa Jazmee, the label under which Boom Shaka worked.
Boom Shaka holds a legendary status in many Mzansi music fans, ngu8bani ongalibala the two young girls dancing and grinding suggestively on national television making a lot of parents uncomfortable on their seats. Rumors were that even former president Madiba was unhappy about the dance.
I’m just glad I didn’t miss the dance LOL.
There’s been a trend lately in the music scene, amaqembu akudala ayabuya, imali ininzi ngoku emculweni. Three years ago TKZ released a come back album after over ten year in the wilderness. It was mildly received by the listeners though as the music has changed.
Also Mafikizolo is back, also missing one member, nangona bangazange baqhekeka ngokumsemthethweni. Malaika could also be making a come back. Coincidentally, Malaika also lost one member, eish these groups coming back a member short.
Could Abashante be making a come back also, Arthur?
