It is been a week since the Nelson Mandela bank notes have been circulating. The bank notes feature South Africa’s first black president’s face on one side of the note, and of the Big 5 animals on the other. They are to honor the icon and struggle hero.
The notes range from R10, R20, R50, R100 to R200. The South African Reserve bank says the notes have special security features and strong paper thus cannot be forfeited.

There’s already hilarious Kasi slang names used for the notes, the R10 note is now called the Madiba. The R20; is called two Madibas, R30 is three Madibas and R40 four Madibas. R50 is called a half Madala, meaning old man The R100 is the Madala. R500 is called the half Tata and R1000 the Tata.
