16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children

Statistics of financial years 2011/2012 reveal that 57 592 cases were reported for child abuse. There has been 64 514 reported cases of sexual offences, 12 645 cases of assault against children and 87191 against women. These are the appalling statistics of horrific violation against the most vulnerable species.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children started running its 16 days annual campaign between 25 November to 1 December. The International campaign has been running for 20 years; with the aim of raising awareness on the negative impact that abuse has on women and children, and to curve these vicious acts. Every day in South Africa women and children are violated by men, in most instances the perpetrator is someone that they know and trust.

This raises questions of what kind of men South African men are? In fact; can women abusers be called men? No! Real Mzansi men don’t abuse women and children. They protect them and unite against savages who destroy the future of Iimbokotho of our beautiful nation.

Be a true Mzansi men and support the 16 Days of Activism Against Abuse by wearing the white ribbon, and break the chain of ignorance.
