Grammy Award winning and R ‘n’ B singer, Alicia Keys is back with her fifth studio album, Girl On Fire. The latest album boasts 13 tracks and features some work with osaziwayo including the likes of; Jamie XX, Dr. Dre, Dark Child, Emeli Sandé and her husband, Swizz Beatz.
The first track off the album, Girl on Fire featuring Nicki Minaj received mixed reviews saying that she could have done better. The first song on the album is called “De Novo Adagio”, an instrumental introduction, where Keys showcases her brilliance with the piano. Another song to look out for in the album is “Brand New Me” which was co-written by British singer-songwriter, Emeli Sandé.
While some say that she going back to her roots in her musical career, this album is actually Keys telling people that she is a different person and ukhulile as a person. “Fire We Make” is a great ballad featuring Maxwell, it is a mood setter and is one of the few kind of ballads that she has had.
This is by far one of Alicia Keys’ best albums and that is saying a lot after the smash hit that her last album, Element of Freedom, was. You will not be disappointed, it is a good listen.
