340ML of style

You have probably heard their music on the radio and you probably liked it a lot.  Or if you are not a radio person, you probably heard it from umngani who is always ahead with music.

340ml is one of those bands that is popular among the young folks, but you never hear anything about them koshwashwi or other gossip news.  They’re a group of abafana who originate from Mozambique but are now based in South Africa eJozi. They are Pedro Pinto (vocals, melodic), Tiago Correia-Paulo (Guitar), Rui Soeiro (Bass) and Paulo Jorge Chibanga (drums).  Their music incorporates many elements including reggae, jazz, ska and dub.  There is no specific genre to their music.  They have a relaxed feel to their music.

i340ML group ihlangene in 2000, releasing their debut album, “Moving”, in 2004.  The 17-track album included the massive hit “Midnight”.  The album was well received by audiences.   They also performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in 2005.  Their second album, “Sorry for the Delay”, was released four years after their first one. The reason for such a delay between the albums was that they had their equipment stolen and their studio broken into and stripped down twice.  “Sorry for the Delay” was also a success with great songs like “Make It Happen” featuring Thandiswa Mazwai and “Fairy Tale”.   The group has multiple award nominations for both the South African Music Awards and the Mozambique Music Awards.  They formed their own record label called 340ml Music, also promoting independent artists.
