You are here: Mzansinews Racism still rife in rife in south africa
It’s been 18 years since the end of apartheid and it seemed that the country was slowly moving forward and being united as the rainbow nation. It is now 2012 but kusekho abantu abaphila emva and refuse to accept that there is no superior race in this country.
Into ebambhisa amazinyo ngezi racist remarks zithethwa lulutsha. Abantu abangazi vokol nge apartheid or what it was all about back in the day. Earlier in the year, there was a big uproar when Jessica Leandra went on twitter and wrote; “Just, well took on an arrogant and disrespectful kaffir inside Spar. Should have punched him”. That caused a heated argument from people around the country. The thing with this though is that this girl was 19 years old, umntana –nta! Owabonisa indelelo eluhlaza and was not supposed to be using that derogatory term.
Another incident of racism happened recently, on the 12 of December 2012 to be exact. Two girls in Durban were assaulted in a club by white guys. Lamakhwenkwe bababiza ngama“kaffirs” lamantombazana awamnkelwa phakathi eclubini. While all this was happening, no one jumped in to help these two girls. According to the girl’s twitter account (@Londekaah), the attacker got some white bouncers at the club to kick them out. kwakhona, it is a young group of people who were using these racial slurs.
People should just accept that it is a new era and racism has no place here.
