Johan Kotze is accused of mutilating and orchestrating the gang-rape of his ex-wife Ina Bonnette, and of murdering his stepson Conrad, 19, on January 3, 2012.On Tuesday, one of three men Kotze allegedly instructed to rape his wife told the court he was terrified of Kotze as he was armed during the attack.
Andries Sithole said he did not rape Bonnette because he could not get an erection. He claimed to have kept his penis in his underpants when he climbed on top of her.
"I was so confused, I was crying. She couldn't see my tears because I had pantyhose over my head, but my tears were flowing when I lay on top of her," he said.
Sithole said even with consent, he would have never contemplated having sex with Bonnette because he "did not like white people".
He said he was not aware of Bonnette's or his own health status during the attack and only found out later that he was HIV-positive. He said he did not know how he had become infected.
Bonnette testified earlier that Kotze sexually tortured her and cut off her nipples while the others looked on. They then took turns to rape her.
She also heard her son beg for his life before Kotze shot him dead.
Kotze and his co-accused pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, raping and attempting to murder Bonnette and murdering her son.
